Privacy policy
What JSON Kitchen does, and does not do, with your data.
Last updated
The short version
- Your JSON is processed inside your browser and is never sent to a server.
- Nothing you paste, open or edit is stored, logged or transmitted.
- There are no accounts, so there is nothing to sign up for and nothing to delete.
- No analytics and no advertising are in use today.
Your JSON
Formatting, validating, repairing, minifying, comparing and converting all run as JavaScript inside the page you have open. There is no backend service and no API call behind any of the buttons, which is why a document never leaves the tab.
Files you open with the Upload button or by dragging them in are read locally by the browser and their contents are placed in the editor. They are not copied anywhere else. Closing or reloading the tab discards the document and its undo history.
What is stored on your device
One value: your light or dark theme preference, saved in your browser's local storage under the key "json-kitchen:theme". It never leaves your device, and clearing site data removes it.
No cookies are set by this site.
Server logs
The pages, styles and scripts have to be delivered from somewhere, and the hosting provider that serves them may keep standard access logs — typically an IP address, a browser user agent and the URL requested — for delivery and security purposes. JSON Kitchen does not add to those logs, read them or connect them to anything you type.
Analytics
There is currently no analytics on this site: no page-view tracking, no session recording, no third-party scripts of any kind.
If anonymous usage analytics are added later — to see which tools are used, for example — this section will say so before it is switched on, will name the provider, and the date below will change. Analytics would never include the contents of your documents, because those are not available to any script outside the editor.
Advertising
There are no adverts on this site today, and no advertising cookies are set.
If advertising is introduced later, an ad provider such as Google AdSense may set cookies or use similar technologies to serve and measure adverts, and to limit how often you see the same one. This section will then name the provider, link to its own policy, and explain the choices available to you, including consent where local law requires it. Your JSON would remain outside all of it.
Children
This is a developer utility with no accounts and no personal data collection. It is not directed at children, and it does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If how the site works changes, this page changes with it in the same release, and the date below is updated. There is no mailing list to notify, so it is worth re-reading if it matters to you.
